Jeux-France reports that SCEE has announced a price drop on some of the older titles in the PS3’s catalog. Resistance, Genji, F1, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, Ridge Racer 7 and Folklore will all retail for €40. That works out at £31.12, which considering Resistance, F1 and Motorstorm are all easily found for £25 on the highstreet, it isnt much of a deal.
The problem is the strength of the pound, it makes everything seem alot more expensive. With the average retail price of a game in the US $60 (£30) and the average UK price £44.99 ($90) it is alot of money for Sony to give up by bringing prices into line. Taking into account iTunes recent problems with pricing and the decision by the European Union to force Apple to make prices fairer, could it hurt Sony to drop the UK prices a bit? Fifa 08 still retails for £39.99 ($80) and the game is looking a bit old now.
Of course, you could import your games, but with shipping and customs duty, you end up paying about the same.
